Spay and Neuter Clinic Cantu Mexico
On Saturday while we were in Mexico, my mom and I volunteered along with our neighbor Jamee at a free spay and neuter clinic. The clinic was run by "Give Some Life Foundation". What they do is spay and neuter cats and dogs so there isn't an over population, there won't be so many puppies to get run over and be strays on the streets. Give Some Life provided eight vets to spay and neuter the animals and the medicine to put the dogs and cats to sleep and all of the instruments, bandages, flea and tick medicine and put posters out to get all the peoples attention.
My job was to make sure the animals were breathing when they came out of surgery and to hold dogs while they waited for their owners. I also applied the flea and tick medicine while they were sleeping. I also had to help clean up vomit if I wanted to which I did. I also was the one who put collars and leashes on the dogs. I had to do it while they were asleep cause some of the dogs could be bitey when they woke up. The collars and leashes were also donated by Give Some Life and they were brand new.
We were there from 9 till 1:30pm. I helped to take care of 53 dogs and 2 cats while we were there. All together Give Some Life, which was run on all volunteers, not a single person was paid, even the Doctors, took care of 99 dogs and 10 cats, so 109 pets in total!
I think it was really fun and I want to do it again next year.

Cody,
I really enjoyed helping out as well and wish we could have stayed longer, but boy, were we all ever tired!

It sounds like you had a pretty good adventure, and I'm sure you enjoyed seeing all the dogs! Remember, doing volunteer work like that helps get you into college! :P

Connor,
Thanks for such a good comment. We really did have fun. My favorite part was when I got to see the Great Dane come in. It reminded me of when we got to be in Texas together with Nana and Nini and the Big Dogs! I love you too and we are thinking that this could help me get into UC when I'm 19.
Love you,
What a great thing to do. I showed this to Nini & both she & I are so proud of you. I was thinking of taking this to our locat Bogata News & having them to do a story about you the the clinic. So if you can send me the info. to show them. Nini thinks that you may enjoy getting a job someday working as an assistant as she did when she lived in Fraiser Park & worked with Dr. Costco. You may be able to work here too in the summer when you are old enough & can spend the summer here. ONLY IF you can keep up your school grades & don't have to go to summer schoo. Keep up the good work Angel Girl. Lov U Nana
