Our Memorial Weekend

For our Memorial weekend we started off by going to Open House on Thursday. I helped my mom spread out all the Lost and Found clothes in the auditorium and after that we had root beer floats. Our school gave them to all the families and called them "Friendship Floats". After that I helped mom hand out PTA papers and then the assembly started. My Principal Mr. J. gave out rewards to the teachers and some of the PTA members. When it was over we went to my classroom. In my room mom and I looked at our Steal head trout frylings, then we looked at some of the art we've done in our classroom and my mom looked at my state report.

After we checked out my room we went to one of the 6th grade rooms and we watched a video that the sixth grade class had made and we looked around and saw their country reports. We were going to go check out the classroom where I want to go next year, but it was really, really crowded so we went back to the auditorium to clean up the Lost and Found and took it home. The reason why we take the Lost and Found home is because we wash it and take it down to Mexico to give to different Orphanages.

On Friday after school we went to the video store and rented three videos. We took them home and we watched one together.

Saturday we went to the store and got some groceries and went home and watched TV for a while. Our neighbor invited me to go bike riding with him and his son who I babysit and some of their friends. We rode around our school. After dinner Mateo came over and I watched him for a while cause his dad had some friends coming over to watch a boxing match.

Sunday we hung out in the daytime, around noon I got on my bike and rode to school and then bought myself a slushy. I saw a couple of my friends at school. Around mid afternoon we went and bought our tickets for Pirates 3 and came home and had dinner. After dinner we went back to the movie. I don't really think this was a good movie cause there was a lot of killing and violence and it was really hard to follow.

Today, Monday, I went horseback riding. It was really fun. I got to go for 2 hours. After my mom picked me up we had lunch on the picnic table and then wrote this blog. This afternoon we have to go into town, so we are going to stop at Jamba Juice.

I hope everybody had a really nice Memorial weekend. I hope everyone also remembered to put their flags out. We did.

Tadpole Update 5-20

We cleaned our tadpoles this morning and thought I'd give you an update. If you look at the first picture of the single tadpole, and look under the tail, you'll see those little lines. Those are it's little legs beginning to form.



What we did to clean the tadpoles was to first get a pan and filled it half way up with water. We put some chemical in it that you can get at any pet store to take the chlorine out so it doesn't kill the tadpoles. First we realized our big net was too big so we used our crock pot spoon to fish them out of the dirty tank and put them into the pan of water. When we got down to the end we ended up using a cup and a spoon. We counted around 30 tadpoles all together.



The tadpoles are back in their newly clean tank. We're planning to keep the tadpoles until they all have legs and are able to survive on their own as frogs. We are then going to put them into two of our ponds. If summer comes before that happens we'll have to put them out in the ponds anyway and hope the best for them.

Mother's Day Weekend!

For Mother's Day weekend we were busy! On Saturday we did a Los Osos 4-H Mother's day carwash. Mom and I made some signs for it. All we did all day from 10am till 1pm was wash cars, vans, suvs and trucks. If you were a mom you got a 20% discount. The club made $175.00 Part of the money we raised is going to charity.

After the car wash I had 4-H Horse. We played with the horses and learned how to properly bathe your horse. I already knew how to give a horse a bath, but it was still fun.

After 4-H horse mom came and picked me up and we had a really nice family evening.

On Sunday I woke up and gave mom my card I had got with my big sister Erin and I made a pair of flip flops for her out of clay in art class. I called both of my grandmas to wish them a Happy Mother's Day.

We drove up to Cayucos to check out the dead whale on the beach. The head was missing and I stepped in whale slime. We went to check out the Indian bowls farther down the beach. We were going to bring the camera, but we grabbed the wrong case. Sorry we don't have any pictures of that.

We drove up to Cambria. We didn't stop there for lunch cause everything was really crowded. We went to Subway instead and went home. My brother called my mom and left a message while we were away. He called again and we talked to him for awhile.

We had another nice family night eating dinner. Mom chose to have turkey legs.I hope everyone enjoyed their mother's day weekend!
