4H

On Monday night we had our first 4H meeting of this year. The bonfire party we had at the beach didn't count for a meeting. I won more awards Monday night. I got a club level pin for Community service, then a flashlight for the next level and in the end I got a calculator for being the top 4H member in our club to do community service. I tied with the leader from last year. I also got a gold seal on my report book and a first year ribbon and pin. It was a proud night. I hope you enjoy my pictures.

banana bread kids

Our Bread Baking Sleepover Weekend.

This weekend I had one of my friends from my old school stay the weekend. She came for my school carnival on Friday night. We had a lot of fun there and she stayed the night Friday. On Saturday we woke up and her mom called and she asked her mom is she could stay again. She and I made zucchini bread and had Domino's Pizza for dinner. This afternoon I watched Mateo for his dad. We all made banana bread. I hope everybody had a great weekend!

The Crow Attack

Today while my mom was in the house she heard a noise. It ended up that the crows were attacking our stuffed one that we have on our mailbox. He's now missing a bunch of tail feathers and looks even more like a Halloween crow. Here's a picture of what ended up happening to our poor stuffed crow.

4 H Projects This Year

4 H just started this year. This year there are two levels of Horsemanship. I did level one last year. This year I am doing level 2. My first horse meeting was last Sunday. After that meeting we decided to take lessons with my 4 H horse leader named Michelle. I am going to go twice a week on Tuesday and Thursdays. I was going to try to go English, but after my second lesson we decided to stick with Western. My favorite horse there is named "Kelly". I like Kelly because he's really big and loving and is a very friendly horse. He likes to make duck noises with his tongue and stick it out at you. He is 17 hands tall and he's dark brown, almost black. He's 16 years old and sometimes they call him "Smelly Kelly" because he likes to eat his poop and roll in it and fart on you. I'm going to try to get him for the Halloween parade and dress him up as a fairy horse cause I want to be some sort of a fairy this year because all the scary masks weren't what we wanted.

The other 4 H project I'm taking is Cooking Level 1. We had our first meeting last Thursday. We made vegetable soup and decorated cooking aprons. The reason why I'm taking this class is because I want to learn how to cook and it might help me get into "Kid Nation".

I'm also doing Community Service again this year because I like to help people. I'm going to be a junior leader this year since I got so many hours last year and won the Presidential bronze award. Another reason why I do community service is because I think it will help me get into college cause they look at all the community service kids did. If I start young I will have a whole bunch of hours by the time I finish high school and think of all the people I can help by that time!

Last night my brother came up to spend the night and go to my 4 H Awards program. I bought a new fancy uniform and a fancy belt that had real cow fur on it and felt real smooth. We had a lot of fun and it was a very proud, proud day. The President signed my certificate and my award. This is my first pin for my 4 H hat. It's an eagle and it's bronze and it has red, white and blue on it and it's really pretty. I think I want to set a goal of around 100 community hours this year.

I sent some pictures of the program last night to some friends and my family and got some really nice notes back. Here's what one of our very close baja friends named Wild Bill wrote to me:

Yeeeee Haaaaaw!!! & Congratulations!!!

There truly isn't anything more rewarding than giving of your time. And for a young'n to have a grasp on that early on in life is truly a gift!

Abrazos y Besos a todos,

Wild Bill

Here's some pictures, I hope you enjoy them.

My Family Visit - Hearst Castle

Last weekend my family came up to visit. My Grandma, my Grandpa, my Great Aunt and my brother. They drove up from where they live and picked up my brother and then they drove up here and checked into their hotel. They met me at my choir practice after school. We then went to my house and got dressed for dinner. We went back to their hotel for wine and cheese before going to dinner. After dinner we went back to their hotel room and watched t.v. for awhile then my brother and I went back to my house. We watched a funny movie with my mom and then went to bed.

The next day we got up and got dressed and my brother and I went down to my grandparent's hotel room. We had breakfast and hung out for awhile. My brother, my grandma and I walked across the street to the bay. We went on our way to Hearst Castle.

The tour was ok. I think I'll be even more intrigued with it when I'm older. My favorite thing about the Hearst Castle was the ride up there on the bus cause it was really fun and it was kind of like a roller coaster. The bus went a good speed to be on time and it was kind of rocky and it was fun. We got to see big horned sheep, deer and coyotes and a bunch of old stuff that a dead guy made.

After the tour we went out for lunch and then my family dropped me off at my house. They had to go home. It was a really fun weekend.

Halloween Decorations

Since it's now October, we've gotten our house ready for Halloween. We have our pumpkin lights out and our ghost on a pumpkin light statue in the garden planter. We put our Charlie Brown set out in our front yard. We have decorations inside of our house. We have books out and our halloween pumpkin candy dish that makes noise if you take candy out of it. We also have window stickers up all over the house. That's all we have out for now.
