My Weekend.

This weekend I babysitted our neighbors 4 year old for the first time. His dad asked me to please babysit while he went to the chiropractor. He came over to our house and helped me clean out my pond. It was fun and I'll probably do it again if his dad offers. Here's our photo. I hope you enjoy reading my blog.

My New Friends

We were in Mexico this weekend to go to our friend Chuy's funeral. His family was staying next door to our house. First thing in the morning the girls and their mom were wanting to pet Cora, so I went outside to get her out there so they could pet her. The girls came over to my house and we played with my old Barbie dolls that I haven't played with for a long time. Their names were Andrea and Angelica and they were Chuy's neices. We played for a couple of hours on the patio. Cora wouldn't come out and play with us, she was being lazy, sleeping on the couch! I hope that I'll get to play with the girls again.

Spay and Neuter Clinic Cantu Mexico

On Saturday while we were in Mexico, my mom and I volunteered along with our neighbor Jamee at a free spay and neuter clinic. The clinic was run by "Give Some Life Foundation". What they do is spay and neuter cats and dogs so there isn't an over population, there won't be so many puppies to get run over and be strays on the streets. Give Some Life provided eight vets to spay and neuter the animals and the medicine to put the dogs and cats to sleep and all of the instruments, bandages, flea and tick medicine and put posters out to get all the peoples attention.

My job was to make sure the animals were breathing when they came out of surgery and to hold dogs while they waited for their owners. I also applied the flea and tick medicine while they were sleeping. I also had to help clean up vomit if I wanted to which I did. I also was the one who put collars and leashes on the dogs. I had to do it while they were asleep cause some of the dogs could be bitey when they woke up. The collars and leashes were also donated by Give Some Life and they were brand new.

We were there from 9 till 1:30pm. I helped to take care of 53 dogs and 2 cats while we were there. All together Give Some Life, which was run on all volunteers, not a single person was paid, even the Doctors, took care of 99 dogs and 10 cats, so 109 pets in total!

I think it was really fun and I want to do it again next year.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium

Sorry that I haven't writen for a while, but we've been kinda busy.
Back in January I went on a field trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We got up at 5:30 am. At 7:15 we met in the parking lot at school and rode a charter bus for 3 hours.

We signed in at the aquarium and met our tour guide that was with us every once and a while during the day. We watched the outer bay feeding. The outer bay feeding is fish like hammer head sharks, sunfish and tuna. When they eat it was really, really cool and fun to watch cause we got to get really close.

Our tour guide talked to us about a fish called a Sheepshead. They are black and red and look kinda goofy like a Parrot fish. Through out our day we saw a few more exhibits and saw star fish, penguin feeding, the kelp forest feeding which was really cool.

I do see all of this in Mexico, but I didn't care because it was a lot of fun and I learned a lot even though I am a Baja Girl and know about the fish.

It was a perfect day except for one of the girls in my class was being a brat the whole time.

My Birthday Party!

For my birthday my mom and Dern let me have a sleep over party. I had five girls including me. Everybody came at 6pm. First we got everybody situated by lying out their sleeping bags in the living room, then we had subs and fries for dinner. We all made necklaces and then we made bookmarks for our diaries. We all settled down in our sleeping bags and watched a movie called, "The Color of Friendship". While we watched the movie we made knotty pillows and rice babies. Rice babies are made out of tube socks filled with rice. You heat them up in the microwave to keep you warm at night and you can put them in the freezer to help with bumps and scrapes. We had hot cocoa and popcorn, then we went to sleep.

In the morning we got up and we made omelets in a bag. We all cleaned up then opened my presents. I got a lot of very nice things. Everybody went home around 10 am. Here's some pictures I hope you enjoy.

My Birthday Surprise!

For my 12th birthday Nana and Nini got me a horse. She's called a Paint and she's 5 years old. Her colors are white and brown. She's really pretty and her name is "Ducie". She lives at Nana's in her huge 20 acre pasture in Texas. They got me a model of a famous barrel racers pink and brown saddle. My entire tack is pink and brown. I was really surprised and grateful to Nana and Nini. They made my day better.
